Some of the Causes and Ways to Prevent Aging of the Skin

from:

The daily lifestyle and health decisions people make often have a direct affect on aging of the skin. Premature aging of the skin occurs when you make unhealthy choices that cause you to look older than you are. Learning what is harmful and starting an anti aging of the skin care program can help slow down the aging of the skin process. Unprotected skin exposed to the sun not only increases the risk of skin cancer but increases aging of the skin, causing sagging, wrinkles, and a leathery, dry appearance. Use sunscreen all year round, including cloudy, dull days, to protect the skin from ultraviolet rays.

Both smoking and second hand smoke are extremely damaging and cause aging of the skin. Research shows that a person’s exposure to cigarette smoke significantly increases skin dryness, wrinkles, and aging of the skin. This is due in part to the vitamin C depletion, which occurs in the body when people smoke, causing things such as dry, rough, scaly skin and dry hair. Non-smokers usually do not get wrinkles as early as people that smoke do and often, smoking gives their skin a yellow hue.

While some aging of the skin is inevitable, people can do many things to keep their skin looking its best. A good anti aging of the skin program includes getting enough daily physical exercise, which gets the blood flowing, boosts a persons energy level, makes them look and feel younger, and helps tone muscles. Lack of sleep makes a person feel and look tired with telltale signs such as bags under the eyes, dark circles, and sagging skin. Research shows that adults require eight hours of uninterrupted sleep nightly to look and feel their best and help prevent premature aging of the skin. Excessive alcohol use contributes to aging of the skin by increasing the blood flow and dilating the small blood vessels in a person’s skin. Broken blood vessels and a flushed appearance are a permanent result of excessive drinking.

Eating the proper, healthy foods is a natural way to help prevent premature aging of the skin in men and women. Fruits and vegetables are important not only for your skin but for overall health as they provide many of the necessary minerals and vitamins. Children, from an early age, should learn the importance of fruit and vegetables so it becomes a life long habit. Be sure to drink from eight to ten glasses of water daily because this slows down aging of the skin by keeping you hydrated internally.
